Why You Need A Social Media Strategy

There are countless advantages to having a social media strategy for your business.

Social media is a powerful tool that can be used to reach potential customers and generate sales. Did you know 3.484 billion people use social media? Many companies use social media as an advertising medium. Others take their content one step further by developing strategies to build customer relationships and increase brand awareness.

If you want to take advantage of the benefits regarding social media marketing, you need to first develop your plan so that it’s clear what type of content will be posted on which platform and at what time. I’m going to list all the ways having a clear strategy will help you.

You will save time creating content

To save time creating content, you should set aside specific times during the week to focus entirely on your content. Having these set days helps keep you accountable in actually creating content, and so you’re not spending hours every day trying to pull from thin air. To develop each post ahead of time, you can create a content calendar with specific pillars tailored toward what your audience needs. How do you know what your pillars are? Well, understanding your buyer personas ahead of time and what makes them tick is where you should start.

To create a buyer persona, you must do market research. Who are your customers? What are their goals, likes, dislikes? How old are they? What content are they currently ingesting on social media? Do they like Instagram? Facebook? Twitter? Do they watch stories? Do they turn on their sound? So many questions to ask! If you don’t know these answers, there are plenty of ways to figure it out.

You will know what your customer wants

Quora is an excellent resource to find out what people are asking. Quora is a “Question” website in which “regular” people ask questions, and those who are relevant to answer will answer them. You can search for problems related to your niche. You can also find questions you can to build authority in your space.

Another great resource is Reddit. There are subreddits for literally everything. Hop on Reddit, look up some topics, and check out the questions users are asking.

One of my absolute favorite places to find answers is in Facebook Groups. Get involved in some Facebook groups in your niche, and start asking questions or answering questions you understand. If you post, you can ask things related to your business, say you are a therapist, and you’re wondering what questions people ask or look for when they follow therapists online. You can ask the group, quite literally that- “What do you look for in the therapists you follow on Insert social channel here- Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/ etc.). Or if you’re a coach asking people in the group related to your coaching business. The best part is these are all free.

What are some things you should consider when developing a social media strategy?

Be consistent. You want to maintain the same posts on all platforms, but there may be times when you need to update more than others, focus more heavily on one platform, or change your wording a bit to cater to your audience. Posting can depend on your business needs and goals for each channel. Ensure you know who your target audience is and what they care about most so that your content appeals to them in a way that resonates with them. It would help if you focused mainly on the platforms where your specific audience hangs out.

You should create your posts to reach and engage your target audience. Since you used some market research to figure out precisely what your target audience is looking for. Then we can delve into the content pillars. What do you know the most about? What information can you share that will help engage your audience and lead them to your paid offer. A content pillar creates the foundation for your overall content strategy. Each pillar will represent relevant topics for your target audience.

Your posts will be more personalized and tailored to the interests of your customers

If you’re a yoga instructor, perhaps posting poses for beginners that help open up the hips. You can create Pillars like Yoga advice, Breathing Exercises, and Mind-Body connection. Having three pillars is ideal; it’s not too complicated, and it lets you focus entirely on that specific content. As you create more specific content directed at your target audience, you’ll eventually see your follower count grow, and engagement will soar. This takes some time, though, and there are no tips and hacks into growing an audience faster than being super specific with your buyer personas to target your ideal customers. Having buyer personas is essential to a sound marketing strategy.

It’s also essential to think about the timing of your posts. One way is to have a strategy for when you post on social media-for example, scheduling Instagram stories with IGTV content ahead of time that will be shown later in the day or week. This lets you connect with your followers even when they are not online at that exact moment and keeps them engaged because they know there will always be something new coming up from you next.

Your posts will have a better chance of going viral or generating organic traffic to your website

Your posts will generate organic traffic to your website. This is why it’s essential to have your website link in your bio and have specific questions directing an answer being on your website. Creating content that attracts people to click, that’s how you get the lead.

Knowing what to post on social media can be difficult, and sometimes you may feel as if you are posting content that doesn’t fit. However, with a strategy in place, it will help simplify finding the right content to share. A social media strategy is crucial because it gives your followers an idea of what they should expect from your page, so they stay engaged. Having a plan also makes posts seem more organized instead of scattered across multiple platforms all at once.

You can build relationships with influencers by collaborating on Instagram Live or having them repost your content to their stories or page. Collaboration is key in any marketing strategy. 39% of customers only trust brands if they have interacted with them on social platforms. So it’s vital that you’re collaborating with other people to get a greater reach for your content. There are also influencers you can pay to create content for you and vice versa. Going Live can seem scary, but it’s much easier when you and your collaborator plan out ahead of time what you’ll talk about, so each of you is prepared.

Posting doesn’t have to be difficult

Having a strategy is so important to generate the rewards of using social media for your business. To attract your ideal customer, you need clear guidelines on what you need to create. If they know what they should expect from your page, they will stay engaged with your content and message. An excellent way to make posts seem more organized instead of scattered across multiple platforms is to find out where your target audience is. Posting carousels on Instagram or Facebook? Or even cross-posting content created for each platform. Both B2C and B2B companies benefit from having a strategy that works.
